Portland Fire and Rescue said they responded to reports of the fire on Wednesday evening. Crews quickly got the fire largely under control after extending hoses to the site from water tenders on the scene.
“The primary body of the fire has been reduced with the crews addressing smoldering hot spots,” PF&R said in a post on X.
A large tree that was damaged in the fire is now at risk of falling onto the freeway, fire officials said. PF&R said they have called in a city arborist to potentially fell the tree before it falls over on its own.
