Man dead in Austin shooting Wednesday evening

CHICAGO (WGN) – A man was shot and killed Wednesday evening in a parking lot in Austin.

Chicago police said the shooting happened just before 6:15 p.m. in the 5000 block of West Madison Street.

A 42-year-old man was in the parking lot when an unknown vehicle drove up. That’s when someone from inside the vehicle pulled out a gun and fired shots, hitting the man in the chest, according to investigators.

Police said the man was taken to Mt. Sinai Hospital where he died.

No arrests have been made and detectives are investigating.
