Will the rain continue? Look for what’s left of the scattered showers and thunderstorms to wind down on Wednesday evening. We will then see a partly to mostly cloudy sky on Wednesday night with a slight chance for more rain. Scattered storms will return on Thursday, reaching their peak during the afternoon before ending during the evening. Rain will be possible again on Friday, but it should be much more isolated.
Thursday temperatures: Temperatures on Thursday will depend a great deal on the extent of the rain. It does appear that we may not see as much coverage of the clouds and rain, so expect another hot day. We will begin on Thursday with lows in the middle 70s. Daytime highs on Thursday will likely return to the upper 90s. Non-rain areas could soar into the upper 90s.
Long-range outlook: Upper-level ridging will build back over the middle of the country this weekend. This will likely shut off most of the rain and bring back the intense heat. Highs will likely warm into the upper 90s, with a few locations possibly hitting 100 degrees. Another weakness in the upper ridge will develop late next week. This will return highs to the middle 90s and bring back hope of more rain. Overnight lows during the period will likely stay in the low to middle 70s.
