NEW ORLEANS (WGNO) — Applications are now open for the 2025-2026 Mayor’s Youth Advisory Council until Sept. 8.

According to city officials, the MYAC is an interactive program offering young people an inside look at city government. It aims to equip them with the skills and opportunities to lead positive change in their communities.

Members will work with city leaders, engage in community projects and provide input on policies and programs impacting youth across New Orleans. The program aims to deepen participants’ understanding of local government and empower them to become the next generation of civic leaders.

Applicants must be between the ages of 13 and 17 and must reside in New Orleans. Selection for the MYAC is based on a review of application materials, an interview and successful completion of the Junior Civic Leadership Acadamy. The JCLA is a three-session introductory program designed to prepare youth for active civic engagement.
