West Baton Rouge deputies seize illegal drugs from store, man arrested

BATON ROUGE, La. (Louisiana First) — The West Baton Rouge Sheriff’s Office has arrested a man accused of selling products with illegal drugs in them.

Md Saiful Islam of Baton Rouge, 41, was charged with distribution of Schedule I CDS – Tianeptine and possession with intent to distribute Schedule I CDS – Kratom.

Deputies said narcotics agents conducted an undercover operation at Bro’s Food Mart on North Alexander Avenue, targeting the possession and sale of illegal products with tianeptine and kratom.

Agents secured a search warrant at the business and seized packages containing the drugs. As a result, Islam was arrested and booked into the West Baton Rouge Detention Center.

No bond has been set yet.
