Spring Creek road word expected to disrupt school commute until Labor Day

ROCKFORD, Ill. (WTVO) — Construction on Spring Creek Road in Rockford will cause delays for parents commuting to schools on Thursday, as completion is expected after school starts.

The resurfacing project impacts Spring Creek Elementary and Guilford High School, with construction crews working six days a week to complete the repairs.

In a statement posted to Facebook on Wednesday, the city said a shortened construction season, caused by Rockford Public Schools’ shortened summer break, meant crews had less time to complete the work.

The city aims to complete the roadwork around Labor Day, minimizing disruption to the school community.
