Multiple ShotSpotter alerts lead Oakland police to probe fatal shooting

(KRON) — Oakland police said multiple ShotSpotter activation alerts Tuesday morning led officers to probe a fatal shooting.

The incident took place at 4:45 a.m. in the 700 block of 21st Street. Investigators said the victim suffered from a gunshot wound and was “privately transported” to a nearby hospital where they later died.

Police did not release the victim’s name.

Gun violence surged in Oakland over the last three days. Between Saturday and Sunday, seven shootings were reported within the city, including one homicide.
