55-year-old woman dies after jet ski fall on Lake Cumberland

LAKE CUMBERLAND, Ky. (FOX 56) — A 55-year-old woman is dead after falling off a jet ski Tuesday evening on Lake Cumberland.

Russell County Search and Rescue (RCSAR) officials were called around 7 p.m. ET to the Alligator 1 Boat Ramp, where a witness said a jet ski crossed the lake before hitting the bank.

At the scene, rescue crews said the jet ski was still in gear and running.

LATEST KENTUCKY NEWS:

RCSAR later learned from another jet skier that the woman was floating nearby and was pulled from the water. She was taken to a waiting emergency medical unit, where she was declared dead.

Rescue officials confirmed she was not wearing a life jacket at the time of the accident.

After an hour of searching, RCSAR confirmed all individuals potentially involved in the accident had been accounted for. Her identity has not been announced at this time.
