Montgomery County police identify motorcyclist killed in crash with BMW

MONTGOMERY COUNTY, Md. (DC News Now) — Montgomery County police have released the name of a motorcyclist who died after he reportedly collided with a car in Brookeville over the weekend.

Officers responded to the crash near the 22000 block of New Hampshire Ave. just after 6:15 p.m. on Aug. 9. There, police learned that a motorcyclist, Patrick Smith, 30, of Bowie, was driving a 2006 Triumph Rocket III motorcycle north on New Hampshire Avenue when he lost control, colliding with a BMW that was traveling south, according to the Montgomery County Department of Police.

Medics tried to save Smith, but he died.

The driver of the BMW, a man, was uninjured.

As of Monday afternoon, it is still unclear why Smith lost control of the motorcycle. Detectives urge anyone with information to call 240-773-6620 as the investigation continues.
