How this Oregon group aids immigrants as DOJ targets sanctuary cities

PORTLAND, Ore. (KOIN) — U.S. Attorney General Pam Bondi says the Department of Justice will continue bringing litigation against sanctuary jurisdictions and work closely with the Department of Homeland Security to eradicate these policies around the country.

Against this backdrop, some local organizations are helping immigrants, including Ecumenical Ministries of Oregon, led by Executive Director Frank So.

One of their programs provides direct support for refugees and immigrants in the community.

So has worked for former Vice President Kamala Harris — advising her on her trips outside the US — as well as President Obama before that.

He’s also been a US diplomat in Latin America, the Caribbean and Africa, as well as a senior mission advisor for USAID, which was essentially shut down by the Trump administration.

So joined Eye on Northwest Politics to share what his organization is doing to help immigrants ahead of more possible crackdowns.
