Five suspects in deadly 2023 Newport shooting pleaded guilty after two-year investigation

NEWPORT, Ark. – Officials with the Arkansas State Police said five suspects in a deadly 2023 Newport shooting have pleaded guilty.

ASP officials said the shooting took place at a concert in the former Branch High School Building at around 2:30 a.m. on Feb. 5, 2023. Fatally shot during the incident was 19-year-old Tamrionna Jarrett of Augusta.

Officials said the five suspects were named through a two-year ASP investigation.

The five received varying terms after pleading guilty.

Tashawn Landers pleaded guilty on June 25 to second-degree murder, two counts of attempted murder and six felony counts of committing a terroristic act. The 24-year-old was sentenced to 55 years in the Arkansas Division of Corrections (ADC).

Steven Dye pleaded guilty on May 5 to second-degree murder, two counts of attempted murder and six felony counts of committing a terroristic act. The 21-year-old was sentenced to 25 years in the ADC.

Dedrick Robinson pleaded guilty on March 4 to felony hindering apprehension or prosecution and three counts of felony tampering with physical evidence. The 24-year-old was sentenced to 20 years in the ADC.

Aaron Warren III pleaded guilty on June 5 to felony committing a terroristic act and four counts of felony aggravated assault. The 31-year-old was sentenced to seven years of felony probation with the Arkansas Division of Community Correction (ACC).

Richard McGee pleaded guilty on June 5 to felony committing a terroristic act and four felony counts of aggravated assault. The 33-year-old was sentenced to seven years of felony probation under ACC.
