Former Arkansas airport treasurer pleads guilty to theft & abuse of office

MARION COUNTY, Ark. – Arkansas State Police said a former Marion County airport treasurer pleaded guilty to charges related to stealing money during his time in the position.

ASP officials said 66-year-old Douglas Starkey pleaded guilty on May 20 to one count of theft of property and one count of abuse of office, both felony charges.

This comes after an investigation began due to concerns about missing funds at the Marion County Regional Airport in Flippin. Special agents said investigators determined Starkey had stolen $117,696.

Starkey was arrested on May 12.

ASP officials said Starkey will serve six years of probation and is required to pay full restitution of $117,696 to the Marion County Regional Airport.
