Search ongoing for missing 14-year-old teen in Uinta Mountains
DUCHESNE COUNTY, Utah (ABC4) — Search and Rescue teams with the Duchesne County Sheriff’s Office are actively searching for a missing 14-year-old girl who was last seen on a family trip in the Uinta Mountains.

The Duchesne County Sheriff’s Office said the girl, identified as Maya Suisse, was last seen with her family in the Painters Basin area near Kidney Lakes.

The initial call reporting disappearance reportedly came in just after 11 a.m. on Thursday, Aug. 7. Duchesne County Sheriff’s Office said search efforts began immediately with horse-mounted search teams entering the area. A helicopter was also deployed, but was reportedly forced to land due to high winds.

Maya was last seen wearing a pink hoodie and gray capri pants.

Search crews are continuing and expanding their efforts both on the ground and in the air, as conditions allow, according to the Duchesne County Sheriff’s Office.

Anyone who may have been in the Painters Basin or Kidney Lakes area, or who may have any information regarding Maya’s whereabouts, is encouraged to contact the Duchesne County Dispatch by calling 435-738-2424.
