PHILADELPHIA (WPHL) — A pedestrian in a wheelchair was hit and killed by a Peter Pan bus Thursday morning in University City.

According to the Philadelphia Police Department, the 40-year-old man was panhandling between two lanes of traffic on the 2900 block of Market Street, near 30th Street Station.

Police said around 9:30 a.m., the pedestrian rolled in front of the bus, and the driver did not see the pedestrian. When the traffic light turned green, the bus drove forward and hit the 40-year-old.
