Where Y’at this Weekend: Ogden Museum, Armstrong Park, Jazz & Heritage Center, The Swamp Room

NEW ORLEANS (WGNO) — A fascinating new art exhibit profiling contemporary life in Louisiana, a rowdy red dress run through the French Quarter and a spirited Saints watch party are all on the books for this coming weekend in the Crescent City. Get ready to have some fun. Here are Where Yat’s picks:

• First, the Ogden Museum of Southern Art is offering a glimpse into life in present-day Louisiana with its newest art exhibition. Presented by The Helis Foundation, the Louisiana Contemporary showcase will display 53 works from 50 artists. Catch this great exhibit from now, Aug. 7, through Jan. 4.
• Early Saturday morning, Aug. 9, men and women alike are invited to put on a red dress before heading to Armstrong Park for the annual Red Dress Run. Known as “a run worth drinking for,” advance registration is required; proceeds from the run will go to local non-profits in the form of grants.
• Next, on Saturday, Aug. 9, the New Orleans Jazz and Heritage Foundation presents a back-to-school jam session at the George and Joyce Wein Jazz & Heritage Center. The event also serves as an open house, as music education programs show off their talented students with live performances.
• Finally, looking for a spot this Sunday afternoon, Aug. 10, to catch the Saints first preseason game? The Swamp Room is a great place to grab a bite and watch the action. Featuring multiple TVs, the Metairie bar and grill offers a variety of food options, cold beer and lots of bar games.
