Rainfall worries Dilworth woman over stormwater runoff

CHARLOTTE, N.C. (QUEEN CITY NEWS) — When it rains, Dilworth resident Ann Warren worries her backyard will start to flood. She said she’s had flooding since last year when a new home started to be built next door. Warren lives on Magnolia Avenue.

“It happened right away, as soon as construction started,” Warren said.

Warren said she has reached out to the city, hired a geotechnical engineer for advice and even installed a drainage system to help divert water, but she says that’s not enough.

“I haven’t gotten any resolution, and it is very frustrating,” Warren said. “I love this neighborhood, and I want to see it flourish.”

Queen City News Reporter Jen Cardone spoke with the builder on the phone, who advised us to look closer at stormwater issues.
