Man accused of intentionally damaging Springfield Town Hall

BATON ROUGE, La. (Louisiana First) — The Livingston Parish Sheriff’s Office arrested a man accused of damaging government property.

According to Sheriff Jason Ard, town officials had to clean up broken glass near Springfield Town Hall on Wednesday morning. One male suspect, identified as Patrick Burns, 54, was at town hall when employees arrived. Officials learned that Burns allegedly intentionally damaged property to get a response from law enforcement.

Ard said that the damage appears to cost more than $1,000.

Burns was arrested and booked into the Livingston Parish Detention Center on charges of criminal trespassing, simple damage to property, false communication with the intent to cause emergency response, and disturbing the peace. Jail records show that Burns’ bond is set at $31,000.
