Man arrested after road rage shooting on highway in Livingston Parish

BATON ROUGE, La. (Louisiana First) — The Livingston Parish Sheriff’s Office arrested a man after a road rage incident on Wednesday evening.

According to Sheriff Jason Ard, a driver alerted LPSO about a road rage incident on I-12, near the Holden exit. Ard said the suspect, who was later identified as Trent Matthews, 31, of Ponchatoula, reportedly fired multiple shots, shattering the victim’s window. Matthews is also accused of ramming the victim’s vehicle multiple times.

The gun was tossed from the vehicle and was later found.

Matthews was arrested and booked into the Livingston Parish Detention Center on charges of attempted second-degree murder, illegal use of weapons from a roadway, obstruction, aggravated damage to property, DUI, and additional traffic charges.

“Thankfully, no one has been injured,” said Ard.

This is an ongoing investigation.
