Police arrest 18-year-old for Topeka shooting death
TOPEKA (KSNT) – Police have arrested an 18-year-old in connection with the killing of a Topeka man in early July.

The Topeka Police Department (TPD) announced in a press release that officers arrested Avant Chambers, 18, of Topeka on charges of murder in the first degree and distribution of certain depressants. His arrest is in connection with the shooting death of 28-year-old Destiny Voss last month.

Police were called around 11:30 p.m. on July 6 for a gunshot victim arriving at a local hospital. The shooting victim, later identified as Voss, was suffering from a life-threatening gunshot wound and died. The TPD said the shooting occurred in the 3200 block of Southwest Randolph Avenue.
