Minden native hosts second annual back-to-school giveaway

MINDEN, La. (KTAL/KMSS) – In preparation for back to school, a Minden native is hosting an event that will include giveaways and fun activities for kids.

Michael Anthony is the second “Michael Anthony & Friends” back-to-school giveaway on Saturday, August 9, 2025, at Elegance on Union, 310 Union Street, from 11 am until 2 pm.

Anthony said that after the event’s success in the first year, it was a no-brainer to continue for a second year. He said many of his friends contacted him to offer help in various ways, ensuring this year’s event is bigger and better. He is excited about the support and donations he has received for the event.

“I have a lot of my friends partnering with me to make this event a major success.”

He said it is a joy to give back to the community in which he was raised.

“My prayers have always been that, you know, when God blesses me, that I’ll be able to give back to others. And that’s my biggest goal, is for me to give back to the community that I live in.”

A DJ will be on site curating the sound of the event, as well as food to celebrate the children of Minden as they prepare to go back to school.

When asked about his next community endeavors, Michael Anthony mentions that he is in the early stages of an organization called Next Generation, which aims to cultivate youth for future growth.
