32-year-old man identified as Carver Park drowning victim

PORTLAND, Ore. (KOIN) – The man who drowned near Carver Park in late July has been identified, the Clackamas County Sheriff’s Office announced Wednesday.

Germain Merilan, age 32 of Gresham, died of an accidental drowning in the Clackamas River on July 27, according to the medical examiner.

A woman reported that her husband had gone underwater near 14888 S Springwater Ave. and did not come back up for 30 minutes around 6:45 p.m.

A Clackamas County Water Rescue team and American Medical Response (AMR) responded to the scene and found the man’s body a half hour later.

No further details about the drowning were made available.
