US 49 South in Madison County reopens after buckles are repaired

MADISON COUNTY, Miss. (WJTV) – Both lanes of U.S. 49 South in Madison County have reopened after recent roadway buckles.

According to the Mississippi Department of Transportation (MDOT), crews repaired the buckles and reopened the highway on August 4.

The buckles occurred on U.S. 49 between 1st Street and Petrified Forest Road due to the excessive heat.
