Man dies in Montegut house fire

TERREBONNE PARISH, La. (WGNO) — A Montegut man is dead following a house fire that happened in the area on Monday, Aug 4.

According to the Louisiana Office of State Fire Marshal, firefighters with the Montegut Fire Department began responding to the fire, which happened in the 3600 block of Highway 665, shortly before 3 p.m.

Officials say a 51-year-old man was killed as a result of the fire, and that an investigation is being conducted by the LASFM and the Terrebonne Parish Sheriff’s Office as to its origin and cause.

It is reportedly unknown as to whether or not there were working smoke alarms in the home.
