Keith and Sheryl Duncan, of Denham Springs were arrested on Wednesday, July 30, and booked into the East Baton Rouge Parish Prison.
Sheryl Duncan was charged with one count of government benefits fraud, and Keith Duncan was charged with three counts of government benefits fraud. Her bond was set at $5,000 while her husband received a bond amount of $12,000.
The Louisiana Department of Health sent a criminal referral to the Louisiana Bureau of Investigation related to the Denham Springs couple.
The referral had to do with allegations that the couple “had intentionally underreported their income for purposes to receive Medicaid benefits,” according to Attorney General Liz Murrill’s office.
As the investigation unfolded, agents found out that the couple had given false information between November 1, 2021, and October 31, 2024.
The AG’s office said, they did not accurately report that they were married or their household income.
Murrill said, “Last week we arrested the ‘Medicaid Millionaire’ from Slidell, today we’ve arrested ‘Romeo and Juliet’ from Denham Springs, who kept their marriage a secret to defraud the hardworking taxpayers of Louisiana for over $130,000. We’re not stopping, these funds are for those in need. If you cheat the system, you will be arrested and prosecuted.”
The investigation remains ongoing.
