The Petaluma Police Department was alerted to an occupied suspicious vehicle in the middle of the road near Jess Avenue and Payran Street at 6:07 p.m.
Arriving officers found the vehicle and police said the car fled at a high rate of speed. The driver, according to police, ran several red traffic lights, which sparked a police pursuit.
According to police, the driver led officers on a five-mile, 15-minute pursuit.
Sonoma County Sheriff’s Office’s helicopter, Henry-1, responded and assisted, police said. The driver stopped at a dead-end road and was then detained.
The driver was identified as a 60-year-old Sonoma woman.
The driver was arrested and booked into the Sonoma County Main Adult Detention Facility for violation of driving under the influence, possession of a controlled substance, and evading a police officer.
