Petaluma police pursuit ended in deadly roll over crash

(KRON) – One person has died after a police chase that led to a rollover crash Saturday night, according to the Petaluma Police Department.

At approximately 10:10 p.m., Petaluma officers responded to a gas station on Lakeville Highway for a possible intoxicated driver. Arriving officers said they noticed a vehicle swerving into oncoming traffic and initiated a traffic stop. The driver did not comply, and a pursuit began.

Petaluma PD said the driver crashed near Old Lakeville No. 1, causing the vehicle to roll over.

Police said officers rushed to assist the occupants and discovered that there were a total of four people in the car. One of the passengers was pronounced dead at the scene.

The driver and the other two passengers were taken to trauma centers in the area with “significant injuries,” per the Petaluma PD.

All the occupants’ identities are being withheld at this time, police said.

Anyone who may have witnessed the incident or has relevant information is asked to contact the Santa Rosa Police Department’s Violent Crimes Investigations Team tip line at 707-543-3590.
