Suspect in custody after standoff on Portland apartment roof
PORTLAND, Ore. (KOIN) — After an hours-long standoff at an east Portland apartment building, a domestic violence suspect who climbed onto the roof is now in custody.

The call early Saturday morning brought police to the apartment near 10400 E. Burnside. Officers tried to contact the suspect but he refused to leave, climbed out a window and escaped to the roof of the building.

Officers surrounded the building and tried to de-escalate, but he refused to come down until around 4 p.m. when police said the suspect was in custody.

During the standoff, various PPB units were at the scene — the Special Emergency Response Team, crisis negotiators, K9s and a drone.

Traffic along Burnside from NE 102nd to NE 108th was affected.

KOIN 6 News will have more details as they become known.
