Oakley Officers responded to the shooting at 10:30 a.m., and found a 40-year-old man suffering from a gunshot wound at an ampm store at the intersection of Cypress Road and Main Street. Paramedics treated the victim and he was taken to a local hospital where he is expected to recover.
On Macadamia Lane, the crime scene was littered with spent shell casings, police said. A resident at the scene was injured by flying glass broken in a hail of gunfire.
“During an area search, Oakley Officers discovered two nearby residences that had been struck by bullets,” Oakley PD said. “At one residence a bullet went through the fireplace; the other residence had at least three bullets go through a sliding glass door. A woman inside that residence sustained a minor cut from the broken glass.”
The shooting remains under investigation. Oakley PD detectives are looking for possible connections between the people involved in the shooting.
Oakley Police Chief Paul Beard said that investigators are working to identify a suspect in the case.
“This investigation is our top priority right now and the safety of the Oakley community is of paramount importance to us,” Beard said.
