Chicago police seek suspect in deadly shooting on Near West Side

CHICAGO – Chicago police are searching for a suspect wanted for a deadly November 2024 shooting on the Near West Side.

Police said the shooting happened at around 10:45 a.m. in the 2400 block of South Oakley Boulevard on Nov. 20, 2024.

A 35-year-old man was driving northbound on South Oakley Boulevard when an unknown blue vehicle approached and someone opened fire. The man was shot in the head and subsequently crashed into two parked vehicles. He was pronounced dead at the scene while a 7-month-old child inside the victim’s vehicle was also grazed by the gunfire, according to investigators.

Police said the suspect was driving a blue four-door Dodge Charger at the time of the shooting and have since released surveillance video. The vehicle drove off southbound on Oakley after the shooting.
