The Bull Shoals City Council appointed Jonathan J. Babb as the city’s new police chief Thursday night during a meeting that covered a wide range of city business.
Babb’s appointment was made official with the passage of Ordinance 2025-13. He will take over leadership of the Bull Shoals Police Department following council approval.
KTLO, Classic Hits and The Boot News spoke with Babb, who says he is eager to strengthen the connection between the police department and the community.

The council also approved Ordinance 2025-14, which combines the roles of city recorder and treasurer into a single position. Ordinance 2025-15 followed, appointing an individual to complete the current term under the newly combined title.
In addition to those appointments, the council discussed and took public comment on several ordinances, including new regulations for short-term rentals (Ordinance 2025-09), modifications to water and sewer deposit fees and debt collection practices (Ordinance 2025-11), and updates to property maintenance standards (Ordinance 2025-12).
The meeting began with a special session at 6 and was followed by the regular monthly meeting at 6:30. Both were open to the public.
