Starting at 3 p.m. on Friday, Aug. 1, the Mayor’s Neighborhood Engagement Office, along with Starbucks, One Heart NOLA, and District “C” Councilmember Freddie King will host a Neighborhood Cares Initiative: Back-to-School Fair.
Organizers say the initiative “Aims to ensure New Orleans youth are equipped, confident, and celebrated as they return to school this fall.”
Students will have the chance to receive a free laptop and backpacks filled with school supplies until supplies last.
Seven barbers and 22 beauticians will also be on site offering haircuts for boys and hairstyles for girls.
Attendees can also enjoy live music, free food and family friendly activities.
Event organizers say free parking will be available in a lot at the corner of Basin adn N. Villere streets. The event will take place at the Tremé Recreation Center, 900 N. Villere St.
