Before becoming Chief Meteorologist in April 2008, Jarod had been the meteorologist for NBC10 News Today since June 2006. He earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Atmospheric Sciences from the University of Louisiana at Monroe.
Before moving to Louisiana, Jarod was born and raised in North Little Rock, Ark. As a child, his attention was first drawn to weather at the age of five. From then on, he could be seen standing at the chalkboard as early as the first grade, giving weather reports to his class and teachers.
Numerous weather events drew Jarod closer to his profession. Growing up, two different tornado outbreaks in central Arkansas (March 1, 1997 and January 21, 1999) piqued his curiosity. Jarod was also part of ULM’s Hurricane Research Team that saw first-hand the devastation of Hurricane Katrina in August 2005.
We thank Jarod for his 19 years of dedication and for providing the best weather coverage in the Ark-La-Miss. We’re going to miss his presence, hard work, superb sock collection, and his daily creative dad jokes.
We wish Jarod the best in your future endeavors.
