According to the PSPCA, between August 1 through 15, adoption fees will only be $5 for pitties at all four of its locations: Philadelphia Headquarters, Danville, Lancaster, and Main Line Animal Rescue Sites.
Supported by The John & Christine Tortorella Family Foundation, the adoption special, designed after a beloved convenience store’s annual hoagie celebration, comes during the slow summer adoption period. Last year, nearly 50 pitties found homes.
“Last year, Pittiefest was such an inspiring time at the Pennsylvania SPCA,” said Gillian Kocher, Director of Public Relations. “We loved celebrating these special pups, and seeing so many of them find homes was truly heartwarming. We hope the 2025 iteration will bring even more joy and find homes for so many deserving pups.”
The PSPCA said that during Pittiefest, it will make it a priority to share important facts and common misconceptions about the dogs. For example, the PSPCA says pit bull is not a breed, but an umbrella term used to describe dogs with similar traits and characteristics.
