Man found dead with gunshot wound in Salisbury street
SALISBURY, N.C. (QUEEN CITY NEWS) — The Salisbury Police Department is investigating the death of a 32-year-old man who was found lying in the roadway with a gunshot wound.
Around 7:25 a.m. Wednesday, officers with the Salisbury Police Department responded to a report of an unresponsive male at the intersection of Long and Liberty Streets.
When officers arrived, they located a deceased adult male who had sustained a gunshot wound. The victim has been identified as Willie Johnson Jr.
Preliminary information and evidence indicate that Johnson may have been shot at a home located on Park Avenue before being found in the roadway.
This is an active investigation. The North Carolina State Bureau of Investigation is assisting the Salisbury Police Department with the case.
At this time, authorities say there is no indication of an active threat to the community.
