City of Sweetwater employee killed while responding to water leak

SWEETWATER, Texas (KTAB/KRBC) – A City of Sweetwater employee was killed while responding to a water leak Tuesday evening.

Robert Saucedo, 23, suffered what is described only as a “fatal injury” while making repairs to the leak on the 1000 block of E 13th Street. He was pronounced deceased at the hospital.

Saucedo had been with the City of Sweetwater’s Water Distribution Department since October 2024 and was working toward furthering his career.

It was an honor to watch him develop as both a professional and a person. We are devastated by his passing, ”said Utilities Director Justin Clowers.

The City of Sweetwater extends their condolences to Saucedo’s family and any city employees affected by this loss.
