Teen killed, woman injured in crash near Beaver Dam

BEAVER DAM, Ky. (FOX 56) — A 17-year-old has died, and a woman has been taken to an Owensboro hospital after a crash in the early hours of Wednesday morning just outside of Beaver Dam.

Kentucky State Police (KSP) wrote in a news release that around 12:20 a.m. on July 30, troopers got a call from Ohio County 911 Dispatch about a crash just west of Beaver Dam involving two vehicles.

The initial investigation showed that a 17-year-old from McHenry was heading east on US-62 driving a 2019 Chevrolet Malibu. The teen allegedly crossed the center line of the road, striking a 2008 Dodge Ram driven by 28-year-old Diana Sanchez of Beaver Dam, who was heading west.

State police wrote that the 17-year-old was pronounced dead at the scene. Sanchez was taken to Owensboro Health Regional Hospital for non-life-threatening injuries.

Troopers said it is unknown whether or not everyone involved in the crash had their seat belt on.

An investigation into the crash remains ongoing.
