Man dead after standoff at Raymond home: sheriff

HINDS COUNTY, Miss. (WJTV) – Hinds County Sheriff Tyree Jones said a 52-year-old man was pronounced deceased at the scene of a standoff in Raymond.

The sheriff said there is no active threat, and the scene on Bill Downing Road has been cleared.

Agents with the Mississippi Bureau of Investigation (MBI) and the interim Hinds County coroner were requested to respond to the scene.


HINDS COUNTY, Miss. (WJTV) – Hinds County deputies responded to a barricaded person at a home in Raymond on July 29, 2025.

Hinds County Sheriff Tyree Jones said the armed suspect is barricaded at a residence in the 3600 block of Bill Downing Road.

According to Jones, negotiators and SWAT have been activated. Several agencies also responded to the scene to assist.

“The situation is contained to a residence occupied only by an armed white male subject,” the sheriff said.
