BATON ROUGE, La. (Louisiana First) — A trooper was placed on administrative leave after a Monday night arrest on a battery charge.

According to the Louisiana State Police, Derrick Parish was arrested Monday night after East Feliciana Parish deputies responded to a domestic disturbance call at a Clinton home around 9 p.m. Parish was booked into the East Feliciana Parish Jail on a battery of a dating partner charge.

The agency said the East Feliciana Parish Sheriff’s Office is handling the case.

According to an affidavit from the sheriff’s office, Parish showed signs of intoxication. The victim told deputies that she had been dating Parish for five months.

State police said Parish was hired in 2015 and was most recently working within the Troop A Patrol.
