Heat worries? Temperatures will likely be at or above 100 degrees for the next few days. This combination of heat and humidity will result in the heat index possibly surpassing 110. That may prompt the National Weather Service to upgrade our recent heat advisories to an Extreme Heat Warning.
Severe weather worries? We will see the chance for some widely scattered showers and thunderstorms to return to the ArkLaTex late this week and this weekend. Severe weather is again looking doubtful, but a few storms could produce some gusty winds. The model that handled last week’s rain the best is indicating that an inch of rain could be possible anywhere in the ArkLaTex!
Tropical worries? The National Hurricane Center indicates that we will likely not see any tropical development in the Gulf or Atlantic during the next week. Some models are hinting that we could see tropical activity pick up in the Atlantic during the second week of August.
Weather Worry Index for the next 10 days: 2 out of 10: With the heat remaining as our main weather concern and with a lack of any worrisome severe weather and tropical threats for our area, today’s WWI will remain at 2 out of 10. Be sure to take it easy in the heat, remember your pets, and check in on any elderly neighbors.
