Officers patrolling in the 1500 block of Southwest Clay Street came across a vehicle near the Central Park Community Center around 6:45 p.m. on July 15. Police found one man inside, later identified as Keller, dead.

Police arrested Curls on July 23 in connection to the homicide investigation.

Keller’s death marked one of several homicide cases for the month of July in Topeka. Police recently asked local residents to help out by sending in tips in response to the uptick in killings during a press conference on July 24.
