CROWN POINT, La. (WGNO) — A woman is dead and another has been arrested following a shooting that happened in Crown Point on Saturday morning, July 26.

According to the Jefferson Parish Sheriff’s Office, deputies responded to the incident, which happened in the 5200 block of Sharpe Road, just before 5 a.m.

On scene, two people were found suffering from gunshot wounds, identified as 41-year-old Sarah Duffy, of Marrero, and another woman.

Investigators reportedly believe that Duffy and the victim were part of a group that had gone fishing in Crown Point. At some point during the trip, the two got into a physical fight, which stopped but resumed once they were inside of Duffy’s vehicle.

Police say that Duffy allegedly pulled a handgun, which the two women fought over, resulting in Duffy being shot in the leg, and the victim being shot in the head.

The victim was declared dead on scene and Duffy was brought to a local hospital for treatment. Upon release from the hospital, she was booked into the Jefferson Parish Correctional Center where she is charged with manslaughter.
