Protesters gathered in front of the federal Metropolitan Detention Center on Alameda Street Thursday evening following recent unconfirmed reports of immigration enforcement actions in the Los Angeles area.
The Los Angeles Police Department formed skirmish lines around 11:30 p.m. in the area of North Alameda Street between East Temple and East Aliso streets, successfully pushing about 50 protesters out of the area.
An ambulance was called to the scene shortly after the crowd was dispersed.
A witness said that the injured person was a demonstrator who hit his head when officers took him to the ground. The patient was taken from the scene in unknown condition.
Police have not released the identity of the person or confirmed how the injury occurred.
Video shared with KTLA by socal_haunts showed a portion of a skirmish between officers and demonstrators.
A similar demonstration took place on Wednesday night, resulting in National Guard members lining up in tactical gear.
A traffic advisory was issued at one point, but there were no reports of tear gas or flash bangs deployed or a declaration of an unlawful assembly in that incident.
