USD 253 shared in a social media post on July 23 the cuts will impact several areas, including: district personnel, professional development and services for Migrant Education students. The district said the cuts will make it difficult to maintain current support levels for students and staff.
“Despite these difficulties, USD 253 remains dedicated to maintaining programs that support teaching and learning. The district will actively pursue additional funding through competitive grants, partnerships, and local resources to lessen the impact on students, staff, and educational equity.”

On July 14, 21 states, plus the District of Columbia and two governors from Kentucky and Pennsylvania sued the ED and the Office of Management and Budget for what they claim is the illegal withholding of $7 billion in Congressionally approved education funds. The State of Kansas was not a plaintiff in the case.
