NEW ORLEANS (WGNO) — The New Orleans Police Department has made an arrest in a case involving the possible exploitation of minors.
On Tuesday, July 22, with help from the U.S. Marshal’s Office Task Force, NOPD officers arrested 38-year-old Joshua “Josh” Kagler.
The investigation revealed that NOPD’s Special Victims Divisions’ Child Abuse Cold Case Unit identified Kagler as “the alleged perpetrator in multiple crimes relating to juveniles.”
NOPD officers add that Kagler was a teacher that previously taught at several New Orleans schools including George Washington Carver, McDonough 35 and Warren Easton High Schools.
Kagler is now facing:
- Five counts of trafficking of children for sexual purposes — (Felony)
- Five counts of indecent behavior with juveniles — (Felony)
- One count of third-degree rape — (Felony)
- One count of sexual battery — (Felony)
The investigation remains ongoing as the NOPD asks that anyone who may have been a victim of Kagler to come forward.
