Tis’ the season for fun at the Mann Center for the Performing Arts! Catherine Cahill, president & CEO of the Mann Center for the Performing Arts joined us in the PHL17 studio to talk to us about all the events happening this week and beyond.
Wednesday, July 23 – The Orchestra celebrates its 125h anniversary with an evening of classical music hits, led by Assistant Conductor Naomi Woo. The evening will feature iconic musical segments from Walt Disney’s 1940 classic Fantasia, as well as Jean Sibelius’s Symphony No. 2
Thursday, July 24 – Guests can celebrate another Eagles Championship Season with this special concert event hosted by the “Voice of the Eagles,” Merrill Reese. NFL Films’ stunning video highlights of the Philadelphia Eagles’ 2024 Championship Season will be played on three giant screens alongside the great Philadelphia Orchestra, led by Anthony Parnther, performing the soundtrack live to picture.
Friday, July 25 – GRAMMY® Award–winning rapper Nas joins forces with the GRAMMY Award–winning Philadelphia Orchestra for a once-in-a-lifetime, SOLD OUT performance in the TD Pavilion at the Mann. Nas will be performing his first full-length album, Illmatic, with a classical fusion provided by the Orchestra – led by Steven Reineke.
Other favorite local orchestras are taking the TD Pavilion stage this summer, including The Chamber Orchestra of Philadelphia, who will be performing with none other than King Gizzard & The Lizard Wizard on their Phantom Island Tour on July 28, and The Philly Pops, who will be alongside Jacob Collier on Aug. 7.
