3 CPD officers injured in early-morning crash on Far South Side

CHICAGO — An early-morning crash involving a CPD squad car on the city’s Far South Side left four people, including three officers, injured on Saturday.

Police said the crash unfolded around 5:15 a.m. in the 1200 block of West 83rd Street, in Auburn Gresham.

According to police, the three officers were in a marked squad car as they headed east along 83rd Street, but as they passed through the intersection, a 23-year-old woman driving in a Kia sedan allegedly disregarded a traffic light and crashed into their car.

Following the crash, the woman was hospitalized in good condition, though the extent of her injuries is unclear.

The three officers involved suffered non-life-threatening injuries and were hospitalized in good condition.

Authorities say citations against the driver are currently pending.
