According to police, the incident unfolded just after 8:30 p.m. Monday night, in the 5200 block of West Palmer Street, in Belmont Cragin, after officers spotted a car they believed had been taken in a carjacking.
Officers attempted to pull the vehicle over and activate the squad car’s emergency lights, but the other driver allegedly refused to stop and continued driving.
Officers continued following the driver, but as they approached the vehicle, they had to swerve to avoid hitting another car in traffic, which caused the officer driving to lose control of the squad car and crash into a tree.
Police say the three officers inside the car all suffered injuries in the crash and were all taken to the hospital in good condition.
Amid the crash, the vehicle that was the subject of the traffic stop fled the scene and no arrests have been made.
An investigation into the incident is now underway.
Anyone with information on the crash can contact CPD Area Five Detectives at 312-746-6554 or dial 911.

The overnight crash is the second time in the past week that CPD officers were injured in a crash involving a squad car.
Early Saturday morning, a pair of CPD officers and a bicyclist were hospitalized following a rollover crash on the West Side.
