Fast-moving storms rake Chicagoland
CHICAGO — The National Weather service around midday issued a Severe Thunderstorm Watch for the area ahead of Wednesday’s storms. The watch in effect until 8 p.m. includes Cook County.

A Severe Thunderstorm Warning in effect for Cook County until 4:15 p.m. was allowed to expire. Previous warnings for Grundy, LaSalle, DuPage, Kane, Will and Kendall counties also expired.

Storm Timeline:

The National Weather Service began issuing Severe Thunderstorm Warnings for areas of Chicagoland around 2 pm.

The fairly quick-moving storm system was out of the metro area by 7 p.m.

Much of the metro area was under a level 2 of 5, or slight risk, of seeing a strong or severe thunderstorm. While the risk was on the lower end, the storms had potential to produce damaging winds, lightning and locally drenching downpours.
