Some Minneapolis rec centers closing early Tuesday due to soaring tempertures

The Minneapolis Parks and Recreation Board is closing multiple non-air-conditioned recreation centers on Tuesday due to high temperatures.

All activities at the building are canceled, participants will be notified and there will also be signs posted on the doors.

The following centers closed at 2 p.m. on Tuesday:

40th Street Recreation Center (formerly Sibley)

Hiawatha School Recreation Center

Rev. Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Recreation Center

Creekview Recreation Center

Morris Recreation Center

Keewaydin Recreation Center

The following centers closed at 4 p.m. on Tuesday:

Armatage Recreation Center 

Corcoran Recreation Center

Pearl Recreation Center

Waite Recreation Center

The following centers will close at 6 p.m. on Tuesday:

Brackett Recreation Center

Logan Recreation Center

Wading pools at any rec center remain open, as do exterior bathrooms. The rec center with air conditioning remains open with normal hours.

The building closures are required per OSHA standards for indoor ventilation and temperature.
