New flights this fall and winter from CLT to balloon festivals and ski slopes

CHARLOTTE (QUEEN CITY NEWS) — If you’re dreaming of crisp mountain air or a sky full of colorful hot air balloons, American Airlines has some exciting news for Charlotteans.

Starting this October and December, new flights from Charlotte Douglas International Airport (CLT) will help travelers reach two very different, but equally exciting, destinations.

Up, Up, and Away to Albuquerque

To celebrate the Albuquerque International Balloon Fiesta, the world’s largest hot air balloon festival, American will launch special service from Charlotte (CLT) to Albuquerque (ABQ) starting October 3 through October 13. Travelers will have a chance to witness hundreds of colorful balloons floating over the New Mexico desert.

Nonstop to Colorado Ski Country

When winter rolls around, American is also bringing snowy slopes closer to the Carolinas. Beginning December 18, travelers can hop on a new daily nonstop flight from CLT to Vail, Colorado (EGE), just in time for ski season and the holidays.

This new flight pairs with previously announced service to Aspen, Colorado (ASE), which begins December 19 and runs through early April, with flights on Fridays, Saturdays, and Sundays.
